As firefighters have been working hard battling the Hawk Fire, some of their work has been for the birds, literally.
This week, crews helped revive a hummingbird with a cool bath and sugar water after finding it overheated while fighting the Hawk Fire.
"Preserving and protecting life no matter who or what is what we do," said a post on the Truckee Meadows Firefighters Association IAFF 2487 Facebook page. "Wildfires can be detrimental to wildlife as well."
After firefighters attended to the hummingbird, it quickly flew away healthy.
