A brush fire burning on Peavine Peak in northwest Reno on Friday night started accidentally due to shooting, officials say.
Forward progress has stopped on the fire, which is burning north of Moose Ridge Drive, according to a spokesperson for Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue.
It has been dubbed the Moose Fire and has so far consumed 111 acres, with unknown containment.
Air support was working the fire with retardant drops until dark Friday night.
Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue, the Reno Fire Department, the Bureau of Land Management, the U.S. Forest Service, and the Sparks Fire Department are responding to the blaze.
The fire briefly threatened a water tower in the area, but firefighters were able to keep it away.
It has caused no injuries.
While officials pointed to an accidental shooting as the cause of the fire, it is still being investigated further.
