Update September 17th, 10:30 p.m.:

A man has been arrested, accused of starting the Crozier Fire.

Cal Fire says deputies arrested 48-year-old Jason Robinette of Placerville.

Update 3:08 p.m.:

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office reports that the evacuation order has been lifted for the Crozier Fire.

Authorities are advising to use caution when using it for two-way travel into the Mosquito and Swansboro area.

Portions of the El Dorado National Forest are still under a forest closure.

Update 9:14 a.m.:

CAL FIRE has reported that the Crozier fire is now 84% contained, and holds at 1,938 acres.

There continue to be hazards in the area requiring ongoing assessment and repair before the area can be re-opened.

The 1,938-acre Crozier Fire is now 68% contained, near Placerville in El Dorado County. 

CAL FIRE says the Evacuation Warning zone has been lifted however, the Evacuation Order remains around the footprint of the fire. 

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office also says the evacuation shelter in Cameron Park is closed due to the status of evacuation warnings.

El Dorado County Animal Services is no longer accepting animals that were displaced due to the fire.

If you have an animal that is housed at the Animal Services Shelter, contact Animal Services between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at (530) 621-5795.

Repopulation efforts are also ongoing in some of the evacuation zones.

The areas of Georgetown, Garden Valley, Volcanoville and Quintet are in the process of being repopulated.

Watch out for crews that may still be in the area as you return.

Update, August 10:

The Crozier Fire has grown to 1,960 acres. 

The fire is currently 8% contained.

Update, August 9:

The Crozier Fire is now over 1,900 acres. 

Over 1,500 firefighters are working on battling the fire, including 12 helicopters, 138 engines, seven dozers and 32 water tenders.

Containment remains at five percent.

August 8 at 11:30 p.m. Update:

The Crozier Fire burning in El Dorado County in California is approaching 1,600 acres.

It has not caused any injuries or damaged any buildings, but it is threatening more than 1,600 buildings according to a release from Cal Fire.

It remains 5% contained.


August 8 at 12:21 p.m. Update:

A fire burning north of Placerville in El Dorado County is now at 1,360 acres and still 5% contained. 

CAL FIRE says the Crozier Fire started around 1 a.m. on Wednesday - burning between the Caldor and Mosquito Fire burn scars - you may see smoke in the Truckee Meadows.

CAL FIRE says Evacuations Orders were issued for the Mosquito/Swansboro Community. Residents in the evacuation order area are advised to leave via Rock Creek Road only.

The Evacuation Warning Zone is for the areas north to Quintet and south of the Evacuation Order and have been extended to the east along CA Hwy 193 and to the north along Wentworth Springs Road. Also, includes the community of Volcanoville.

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office says for those displaced by the Evacuation Order there is a Temporary Evacuation Point at the Placerville Library at 345 Fairlane, Placerville.

The El Dorado County Animal Services Shelter, 6435 Capitol Ave, Diamond Springs will be open to house animals displaced by the Evacuation Order. If no one answers the door, call 530-621-5795.
