Governor Joe Lombardo joined with Northern Nevada HOPES on Monday to announce the final phase of a new Community Wellness Center.

The 43,000-foot Jerry Smith Community Wellness Center is set to open in May.

Monday's announcement marks the end of a two-year, $36 million capital campaign, which came with two large financial gifts including a $6 million donation from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott through the Chicago Community Foundation and a $5.9 million donation from the William N. Pennington Foundation.

The wellness center the funds are helping to build will be located on East 4th Street alongside the Nevada Cares Campus, according to a release from Northern Nevada HOPES.

The state-of-the-art facility will significantly expand access to primacy care, mental health, case management and substance use treatment to thousands of northern Nevadans.
