An injured hiker needed to be rescued on Mt. Whitney earlier this week.
At around 11 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2022, CAL FIRE San Bernardino/Inyo/Mono Unit assisted the Inyo County Sheriff's Office with rescuing an injured hiker 2 miles from the Mt. Whitney trailhead.
Crews located the patient and successfully brought her down the trail to an awaiting Independence Fire Department ambulance.
The condition of the hiker is unknown at this time.
