Animal Ark is bringing back Discount Days this summer.
The wildlife sanctuary off of Red Rock Road discounted admission fees by 25% for Saturday, June 6th, and Sunday, June 7th.
"We want to make sure that everyone has a chance to come visit us this summer," says Jasmine Tomita, Education Manager at Animal Ark. "So in case you're on a budget or you got a big family, we're running three different discount weekends here over the summer."
With temperatures heating up, Tomita says the park has many ways to keep their animals from overheating.
"All of our animals have either kiddy pools or big tubs that we can fill with water," she says. "Most of the big guys also have deep pools that will begin filling now that it's starting to get hot for the summer. We also like to provide misters for our animals, so a lot of our guys that get especially hot during the summer, like our porcupine Wilbur, loves his mister."
Some animals, like Santo the Jaguar, have shade cloth on top of their enclosures to block out the sun. Others get blocks of ice with treats in them.
Animal Ark has four new animals for this season, including Taz the bobcat. She came from a Montana facility that was downsizing, so Animal Ark took her in.
"She's very sweet," Tomita says. "She's about three years old and loves attention from her keepers, so I can see that once she gets comfortable here, she's going to be a fan favorite because she enjoys coming right up to the glass. "
Animal Ark has two more discount weekends this summer, July 4th and 5th and August 1st and 2nd.
You can get 25% off your admission if you stop by on either of those weekends. Tickets can be purchased through Animal Ark's events page.
They are also taking donations to help cover the cost of taking care of all these animals, as well as build a new enclosure for Maple the raccoon.
You can donate either in person at drop boxes around the park or online through this link.
