Cantaloupe Fair Scam Alert .jpg

Organizers of the Fallon Cantaloupe Festival & Country Fair are warning the public about fraudulent online posts falsely claiming to represent the annual event.

According to the Fallon Cantaloupe Festival & Country Fair, in an online post, festival officials recently became aware of scam posts circulating online that are not affiliated with the event.

The organization said contact information included in the fraudulent posts is not associated with the festival and that the people behind the posts are not authorized to accept vendor applications or payments on the festival’s behalf.

Festival officials also said the Fallon Cantaloupe Festival does not use AI-generated promotional designs for official festival marketing materials.

The organization said official festival information will only be shared through the festival’s official social media pages and website. Vendor applications and festival communications also will come directly from the organization.

Officials urged people who encounter the fraudulent posts to report them to the social media platform and avoid providing personal information or payment. They also encouraged anyone with questions about the legitimacy of a post, vendor opportunity, or festival communication to contact the organization directly before responding.

The post said, “Thank you for helping us keep our community informed and protected.”
