On January 3 around 2:00 a.m., the Carson City Sheriff's Office were called to a house on Carmine Street after a report of shots being fired.
As deputies arrived at the house, they saw multiple spent ammo cartridges in the front patio area of the suspected house.
Deputies reached out to three people inside the house - the suspect in the shooting was identified as 28-year old Francisco Gutierrez of Carson City. Initially, Francisco was arrested for a probation violation.
When detectives arrived on scene with a search warrant to do an investigation, they found several firearms - including a short-barreled rifle and one semi-automatic pistol with the serial number removed.
Ammunition, ballistic armor and other tactical equipment was also found.
Over the course of the investigation, it was found that Francisco was banned from possessing guns. His wife, 42-year old Wendy Gutierrez also of Carson City, was interviewed and admitted to buying the guns that were found in the house.
Both were arrested and are facing charges; Francisco is being charged with multiple firearm-related charges and has bail set at $20,000.
Wendy is being charged with two firearm charges and her bail is set at $5,000.
