The City of Sparks passed two new items on Monday designed to help law enforcement crack down on crime.
The first allows for 25 new security cameras to be set up at the Legends and Galeria malls to aid in the prevention of retail theft.
Sparks Police will work with a company called Flock, and the cameras will incorporate license plate readers as well.
The second item approved expands areas of use for a new technology that helps police track the location of gunshots.
That tech will be expanded in the Vista and Disc Drive area.
About 18 months ago, the Sparks Police Department began using the new technology "Shotspotter."
The department says the new technology has helped create faster and more efficient responses.
