El Dorado County District Attorney's Office and the Sacramento FBI Field Office announced the capture of a convicted child molester who had been on the run for the past 10 months.Â
In July of 2025, Carl W. Cacconie was convicted on six counts of committing lewd acts on a child under the age of 14. His sentencing was scheduled for August of last year.Â
Cacconie was on bail with a monitoring device while awaiting sentencing. On the day of his sentencing, his family reported him missing. He left behind his phone, wallet and a suicide note.Â
On May 14th, a federal arrest warrant was issued for Cacconie, and after an investigation, he was found in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was arrested without incident.Â
Cacconie will make his first court appearance in Arizona and then be extradited back to California.Â
