Costco says it wants to add more fuel pumps to its Spanish Springs Galleria location.
The Sparks City Council is scheduled to hear a modified final approval plan for the possible addition at its public meeting on Monday starting at 2 p.m.
The proposal would increase the number of fueling dispensing nozzles from 18 to 24 and create sign standards specific to Gasoline Service Station Canopies.
The Sparks Planning Commission considered the request on July 26th, and voted to forward a recommendation of approval to City Council.
Sparks staff approved the Costco site in 2005, with a 149,000 square-foot retail membership warehouse and gas station with maximum of 12 fuel dispensing nozzles.
A decade later, in 2015, City Council approved an amendment increasing the number of permitted nozzles for from 12 to 18. Then in 2017, the Costco fuel canopy was expanded, and six additional nozzles were installed.
The proposal would also allow for construction of a new 40,000-gallon underground gasoline storage tank.
