After detectives with the Regional Narcotics Unit received information in early December, deputies arrested a person for allegedly engaging in the sale of illegal narcotics.

A 27-year-old, Alvarez Rojas, was allegedly engaging in the sale of narcotics from a residence near the intersection of Sharlands Avenue and Mae Anne Avenue in Reno.

According to authorities, after an investigation, Rojas was arrested by the Washoe County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit and deputies executed a search warrant for his residence.

During the search, deputies also found approximately 2,142 grams of methamphetamine, about 23 grams of heroin, and $2,557 in U.S. currency.

Police say the methamphetamine that was seized has an estimated street value of approximately $53,565.

Rojas was booked into the Washoe County Jail on alleged charges of Trafficking of a Controlled Substance, 40 grams or more, two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, and two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell.
