Viewers have reached out to us regarding how loud a concert was in downtown Reno on Friday night.

Angela, a downtown Reno resident, says, "It was extremely loud, I couldn't relax, I was agitated."

While many attendees enjoyed Friday night's concert at the J Resort, many neighbors saw it as more of a Halloween nightmare. Even some visitors were concerned for the locals.

Tony Gennaro, visiting from Oregon, says, "It was very loud. I feel terrible, I was looking at the mod apartments that face directly on it, watching the lights reflect, I could see how people with like epilepsy and things like that might have issues."

But not all neighbors were agitated with the lights and loud noise. Some saw it as getting a free concert right in their backyard.

Keith Williams, who lives right down the street from the resort, says, "Reno throws some large concerts and it's great."

Hubie Hernandez, another downtown Reno neighbor, says, "I don't really go out and do that stuff but walking outside and seeing it all happen, it gives me joy."

Another neighbor, Fred Marchbank, says, "I think it's a wonderful thing. People come out with their kids, and their pets, and their husbands, and their wives, and everybody seems to be having a wonderful time."

The City of Reno says the J Resort's Festival Grounds are permitted to have outdoor events until 11pm. However, they can only host an outdoor event until 12:15am twice a year. Making Halloween night's concert one of the two.

Angela Fuss, assistant director for development services for City of Reno, says, "We want a vibrant downtown where we want activities and concerts and festivals, but how do we do it in a way that allows people who want to live downtown to be more comfortable?"

Some people even found concerts like this beneficial for our economy.

Demetris Sheppard, a downtown Reno resident, says, "They're bringing money to the city. There are big names that are coming in and so I think that's a bit of a tradeoff. We're bringing revenue, we're bringing jobs, we 're bringing entertainment."

Chris Robinson, another neighbor, says, "I think it's a great thing for the people out here. I think they should keep it jamming, keep the parties coming, keep the concerts coming, keep the cool vibes coming."

J Resort concert organizers released a statement saying:

"As we come off of another entertainment-filled weekend of live music at the J Resort festival grounds, we can confirm that all shows operated within the permits issued by the city of Reno. It is important to note that weather conditions have a significant impact on the perception of amplified sound, with windless evenings allowing sound to travel more than in windy conditions. We thank everyone who came out to Subtronics on Halloween night and two friends on Saturday; we look forward to welcoming visitors back for our second annual life in lite new year's festival on December 31!"
