If you drove on Interstate 580 through south Reno on Monday morning, chances are you got stuck in a nasty traffic jam.
Two dump trucks crashed on the interstate near Damonte Ranch Parkway, closing all but the right lane in both directions of I-580.
Nevada Highway Patrol said around 7 a.m., both dump trucks were heading southbound when one made an unsafe lane change and hit the other one.
The first dump truck then flipped over and spilled dirt on the northbound freeway.
Troopers said the driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Backups lasted for miles, with northbound traffic backed up to the Mt. Rose Highway exit at one point.
2 News Nevada caught up with drivers stuck in Monday morning's jam.
"An accident is an accident," one driver named Cilia said. "Happens every day. You just happen to get stuck."
Cilia said her drive to the gym was interrupted by the ensuing traffic, and she had to let her personal trainer know.
"I'm going to be late," she said. "I was just trying to get his email so I could send him a message."
Many drivers were frustrated that they couldn't make it to work on time, but others enjoyed the wait.
"Honestly, I'm not going to lie, I like it," Ezai said. "It gives me an excuse to not go to work right now."
Ezai said he works as a traveling barber, doing in-home haircuts. Thankfully, he said he didn't have to cancel on any early-morning clients.
"Just because they're pretty understanding. I told them that I'll be late right now," he said.
A tow truck moved the overturned dump truck away just before 9:30 a.m., and the southbound lanes opened shortly after.
Northbound traffic followed suit once crews cleaned up the dirt around 10 a.m., about three hours after troopers first responded.
All lanes are currently open to traffic.
Nevada requires all drivers to move over for traffic stopped on the side of the road to give space for emergency vehicles.
