A man has received a sentence of up to life in prison after pleading guilty to lewdness with a child under the age of 14.
In June 2023, officers with the Nevada State Police Parole and Probation Division conducted a routine home visit with registered sex offender Melvin Hucks, who was under supervision for aggravated stalking.
During the visit, a camcorder was found showing Hucks engaging in sexual acts with an unidentified girl, according to a release from the Nevada State Police.
Hucks was arrested for parole violations, his supervision was subsequently revoked, and he was returned to the Nevada Department of Corrections.
Continued investigation of the footage allowed officers to identify the victim, who lived out of state.
Eventually, the victim was interviewed, the case was submitted, and an arrest warrant was issued.
In March 2026, Hucks was released from the Nevada Department of Corrections on parole supervision and was immediately booked into the Washoe County Jail on the outstanding warrant.
In June 2026, Hucks pleaded guilty, and on August 10, he was sentenced to 10 years to life in the Nevada Department of Corrections.
