After the Gardnerville Ranchos fire blazed through the community last week, firefighters returned to the area to help a mother find a necklace belonging to her son, who had passed away.
The necklace had been lost in the destruction from the fire until it was found by local firefighters.
According to an online post by the East Fork Protection District, the mother called one of the Battalion Chiefs, asking for crews to return and help her find the necklace.
Fire crews knew finding a necklace in the left-over debris would be hard, but they eventually found the necklace and returned it to the mother.
The East Fork Fire Protection District says they were proud to be involved in finding the necklace.
