The Fleischmann Planetarium will soon be home to the world's first LED dome on a college campus.Â
The University of Nevada, Reno says the dome will immerse visitors in high-quality astronomy simulations with 100 times more brightness than most planetarium projection domes.
It will also provide a new way for students on campus to learn
"Kids come here and get inspired about future careers," said Paul McFarlane, Director of Fleischmann Planetarium. "We've had people who came as kids with their grandparents, and they got interested in the stars and the universe and engineering and now some of them are actually working with NASA."
The University expects to begin construction on the new dome this April.
They hope to have it open to the public by next November.
