NOVEMBER 12 UPDATE:
Former Deputy Reno Police Chief Tom Robinson was in court on Wednesday for a status hearing.
During the hearing, the judge granted attorneys more time to work on the case.
Police arrested Robinson last month on charges of soliciting a minor for prostitution and child abuse or neglect.
His arrest was part of a sting operation that resulted in the arrest of twelve other suspects.
ORIGINAL ARTICLE (OCTOBER 17):
On Thursday October 16th, former Reno Police Deputy Chief Tom Robinson was arrested for charges relating to soliciting a minor for prostitution and child abuse or neglect.
RPD sent us this statement in response:
"The Reno Police Department is aware of the arrest of a former employee. The individual previously served as a deputy chief within the Reno Police Department and retired from service in January of 2024. He is no longer employed by the Reno Police Department.Â
At this time, this active investigation is being handled by the Washoe County School District Police Department as a member of the Regional Human Exploitation and Trafficking (HEAT) Team."
Robinson was arrested in the operation along with 12 other suspects
Police say one suspect showed up to have sex with what he believed to be 9-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy.
