According to a letter sent to families of Galena High School students last week, people at the school may have been exposed to whooping cough.
The letter, sent from Northern Nevada Public Health (NNPH) mentions that pertussis (also known as whooping cough) may have been active at the school.
Because of this, NNPH recommends that Galena High students stay home if they have a cough, and get checked by a doctor for pertussis as soon as possible.
NNPH says that symptoms developed due to exposure to pertussis are most likely to appear on or before March 4th.
Folks with any questions or concerns should reach out to NNPH at 775-328-2402.
