The Washoe County Sheriff's Office says they're monitoring the Hawk Fire in case they need to evacuate the jail.
Sheriff Darin Balaam released the following statement, "As the Hawk Fire continues to burn near our facility, I want to reassure our community and the families of those who are incarcerated that we are closely monitoring the fire and changing conditions.
The safety and security of every incarcerated individual, as well as our staff, remains a top priority. We are actively coordinating with our fire and emergency response partners and are prepared to take whatever actions are necessary to keep everyone at the facility safe. We will continue to evaluate conditions and respond accordingly.”
