The Elko County Sheriff's Office says they're investigating a homicide after a man's body was found with stab wounds.

In a Facebook post, the sheriff's office says dispatch received a 911 call reporting a man had been thrown from a vehicle and was bleeding.

This happened Thursday August 13, just after 9 p.m.

Witnesses and video surveillance in the area captured a vehicle driving away from the area at a high rate of speed.

Initial reports indicate the car had run over the victim as it drove away.

Witnesses attempted life-saving measures; however, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

During the investigation, Elko County deputies determined that the victim had sustained multiple stab wounds to his neck.

The investigation further determined that the man had not been thrown from the vehicle and had not been struck or run over.

The name of the victim has not been released.

The incident remains an active and ongoing investigation.

We've reached out for more information from the Elko County Sheriff's Office and have yet to hear back.
