There's still a few days left if you haven't had the chance to check out any of the venues for Hot August Nights yet.
You have the daily show-n-shines, cruises, and parades at multiple venues.
And although it's the last weekend of this popular event, President of HAN, James Herr, says they're not winding down - in fact, they're just getting started: "We are enjoying these beautiful cars. We got some of the best cars in the world here today, and we've got all of our sponsors out here, some racing equipment with all their vendors, so we want people to come down to Big Boy's Toy Store and enjoy this."
At Big Boy's Toy Store, located in the Reno Events Center, you can meet some of top competitors with vintage vehicles they've built from scratch.
You can find out who wins the Grand Champion Award for the best car—which will also become next year's promo car for Hot August Nights—on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
One participant, Steve Price, says he's really excited to be competing for the first time, "To be accepted into this building, into this part of the show; I didn't realize how big of a deal it was until I saw the competition here."
Price says that ever since he built his first classic truck, he has a whole new level of respect for other cruisers.
"Since I built my first one now, I really appreciate a lot more the amount of hours and time people put into their vehicles. My wife and I, I think it was December, we started thinking about how many hours and I have about 2,800 hours in this truck."Â
You can also check out what cars are being auctioned off at Motorsport Auction Groups hosted at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center throughout the weekend.
Dave Johnston, a vendor, says while he enjoys seeing all the show-n-shines and cruises, the one thing that really makes any car event great is the people: "Mostly it's fellowship, seeing people that I enjoy seeing, moving around and going to dinners and things with them while I'm at the shows."
These are only a few of the many event going on so if you'd like to see the full schedule you can check out the Events page on the Hot August Nights website.
