Hot and dry weather has returned to the region, bringing increased wildfire concerns as temperatures climb and little to no moisture is in the forecast.
According to the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District in an online post, crews have already responded to multiple fire starts and are urging people to avoid activities that could spark a wildfire.
Officials asked people to avoid target shooting, pile burning, welding, or grinding in dry vegetation, parking cars on dry grass, and improperly disposing of cigarettes.
The reminder comes as high temperatures are expected to continue, with possible windy conditions that could increase wildfire danger in the coming days.
"One careless moment can change everything," the district said. "Stay vigilant, make smart choices, and help us protect our community from wildfires."
