Nye County deputies are investigating a human skull that was found by hikers in the Shadow Mountain area Sunday evening.
Deputies say the human skull was discovered near Barney and Nye Roads.
Deputies and detectives with the Nye County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, where the hikers led them to the exact location, and confirmed the remains to be a human skull. At this time, investigators cannot speculate on how long the skull had been at the location or who the person was.
The skull will be submitted to the Clark County Coroner's Office for DNA analysis in an effort to determine the person's identity and assist investigators in determining the cause and manner of death.
