With today's announcement of pro soccer returning to Northern Nevada and addition of a stadium and entertainment district on the land of the old Jones-West Ford dealership on Kietzke lane.Â
We wanted to hear from the community and many locals have raised concerns about the stadium potentially contributing to homelessness and traffic.
Paula, a Reno Resident says, "The amount of homelessness that has developed, is so huge that it's almost like, how are they going to build a stadium? Something for entertainment?"
The area is already a populated traffic site, and many people think the construction and addition of the district could create more congestion.Â
Paula continues, "This is a very busy street already and the traffic is going to be another issue."
On the other side many residents were thrilled for the return of a team here in Reno. Many mentioned how it could impact tourism, the local business economy, and popularity of the team overall.
Frank Schenk of Reno says, "I think it's really good for the area. You know, I think, especially the location. It's a good location."Â
Jacob Durelli, a Reno resident, told us, "I'm a huge, like, fan myself. I love watching LaLiga and also Premier League stuff. So, it's great to see it becoming popularized in the USA. If we got a local team, I would totally follow and support them."Â
Reno Pro Soccer would like to continue to hear from the community about things like team mascot, logo, name, and more.
We will let you know when more feedback opportunities become available.
