A sworn employee of the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has been placed on administrative leave in relation to a criminal investigation by Sparks Police.
In a statement released on the LCSO Facebook Page, Sheriff Brad Pope said the Sparks Police Department reached out to him about the investigation on Thursday.
"After being made aware of the investigation, myself and other members of the Command Staff contacted the individual under investigation and immediately placed them on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the criminal investigation," said Pope in his statement.
Nevada's Peace Officer Bill of Rights calls for confidentiality during investigations into officer misconduct, and Pope said he could therefore not release further information about the investigation.
Any additional information will come from the SPD.
The sheriff said the LCSO will fully cooperate with the Sparks Police Department.
We reached out to the SPD about the investigation and were told that, since it is active, they could not comment.
