A man was arrested on Monday, suspected of a homicide that happened in Sun Valley in May.

33-year-old Tyler Dollard was arrested on September 15 and charged in the death of 40-year-old Carlos Cardenas.

It happened on May 25 in the area of the dirt extension of Chimney Road in Sun Valley, according to a release from the Washoe County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to reports of a body in the area and found Cardenas upon arrival. Sheriff's Office detectives then took over the investigation.

Results from the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Cardenas’ death a homicide.

With the help of the Northern Nevada Drug Task Force, Human Exploitation and Recovery Operations Team, and the Northern Nevada Regional Intelligence Center, detectives identified Dollard as the suspect and took him into custody without incident.

There are no outstanding suspects in the case.

Dollard is being held in the Washoe County Detention Facility on charges including open murder with the use of a deadly weapon, robbery with the use of a deadly weapon, and destroy or conceal evidence.
