A 33-year-old man faces several gun-related charges after being arrested at a home in Reno on Wednesday.
Police say they initially responded to the report of a runaway juvenile from Winnemucca with a suspected stolen car who was with the suspect, Noah Chatham.
Police say they safely located the juvenile who was subsequently released to her guardian. The alleged stolen vehicle was also recovered during the investigation.
Police say further information indicated that Chatham, who is prohibited from possessing guns due to a prior felony conviction, was believed to have multiple firearms inside the residence.
Detectives with the Reno-Sparks Regional Intelligence Service assigned to the Crime Gun Intelligence Center — a collaborative unit comprised of personnel from the Reno Police Department, Sparks Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) — initiated an investigation and later executed a search warrant.
With the assistance of the Reno Police Department SWAT Team, Crisis Negotiators, K9 Unit officers, and personnel assigned to the Reno Police Department RAPTOR Drone Program, Chatham was safely taken into custody without incident.
Chatham was arrested on the following charges:
* Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm (8 Counts)
* Possession of an Unserialized Firearm (3 Counts)
* Possession of a Short-Barreled Rifle (1 Count)
(Reno Police contributed to this report.)
