Downtown Reno is even more colorful today as The Siegel Group announces the completion of a 17-story mural on Virginian Tower.
The artwork, which was conceived by Nevada artist Derek Douglas and brought to life by fellow local artist Anthony Castillo, was inspired by Douglas' daughter.
Douglas envisions the mural as a beacon of hope and future possibilities.
Castillo single-handedly executed the massive mural over only a three-week period.
"The mural on the Virginian Tower is more than just art; it symbolizes the transformative power of creativity in reshaping both public spaces and the cultural identity of our city," said Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve. "These large-scale works enrich our urban environment, foster community interaction, and reflect Reno's unique spirit."
The mural is part of The Siegel Group's broader initiative to weave art into the city's fabric.
