ORIGINAL STORY:

Tom Dolan, the owner and founder of the Dolan Auto Group in Reno, passed away at 75 on Thursday, September 12.

Born in Albert Lea, Minnesota and the youngest of eight children, Tom settled in Reno in 1969 and graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1972.

His automotive career started at Reno Dodge working for Don Weir Sr. where he learned alongside his former college roommate and friend Don Weir Jr.

Tom quickly advanced in the business. From 1975-1982, he moved from Sales to Finance Manager to Sales Manager and then to General Manager at Carson City Dodge-Chrysler and Reno Dodge.

In 1982, he became the General Manager and Vice President of Reno Toyota. Tom later purchased the dealership, which became Reno Toyota and eventually Dolan Toyota.

In a post on Facebook, Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam says, "Tom always believed in giving back to our community. There was no area within our community that Tom didn’t help, whether it was our youth, education, first responders, or the university - he stepped in wherever and whenever the need arose. A dedicated and philanthropic member of our community, Tom will always be remembered for the lasting mark he made on Washoe County."
