Disco lights, music, and a dance party marked a big milestone at Natchez Elementary School, where two years of hard work have helped transform the school and earn it another statewide achievement award.
Natchez received the Inspiring Gains in Student Achievement Award for the second consecutive year, according to the Washoe County School District in an online post.
The school has climbed from a one-star rating to a four-star rating in just two years, now holding the highest Nevada School Performance Framework index score among the district's Title I elementary schools.
The improvement includes gains in academic achievement, student growth and attendance.
To mark the accomplishment, staff turned up the music, switched on the disco lights, and brought the school community together for a dance party.
The district credited the progress to the combined efforts of students, staff and families working toward a shared goal.
