The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) has finished a project that launched in the fall of 2023 to replace an aging bridge in Lovelock.

NDOT Lovelock Bridge Replacment

The aged bridge located on State Route 396 and Upper Valley Road north of Lovelock was replaced with a more than 32-foot wide steel girder bridge which will provide a four-foot wider roadway.

Now that the new bridge is open, the frontage road between I-80's Coal Canyon Exit 112 and Oreana Exit 119 has been reopened to all traffic after being closed for the bridge's replacement.

NDOT says that periodic brief lane closures might occur randomly as they finish construction but that highway traffic will not be affected.

Officials say the bridge replacement is part of the state's bridge inspection and preservation program.

A program that has been an integral part of keeping Nevada's bridges ranked as one of the nation's very best for the past nine years.

NDOT says they inspect the majority of bridges including those that are maintained by the city and the county, every two years.

Bridges that show greater deterioration are inspected more frequently, while the newer bridges are inspected every four years.

NDOT in the last two years has dedicated around 17 million dollars to bridge preservation in Nevada.
