Truckee Police is sharing some reminders for drivers around Donner Lake as the summer recreation season begins.
They've posted some tips on their Facebook page:Â
- Families, joggers, pets and cyclists are everywhere. So, drive slowly and stay alert for sudden crossings.
- Reminder: The speed limit has been reduced from 35 mph to 30 mph.Â
- Bikes share the road-give at least 3 feet when passing and use caution.
- Be ready for children near lake access points and neighborhoods.
- Fog, shadows and glare can limit visibility-use headlights and slowdown.
- Park legally and avoid blocking bike lanes or driveways and be mindful.
Truckee Police say keeping these tips in mind will help keep Donner Lake safe, scenic and serene for everyone.Â
