Drivers who travel on SR 339 south of Yerington should expect to see some lane closures due to road construction beginning next week.
Starting on Monday, September 23 through November of 2024, NDOT will be shifting lanes for traffic along portions of State Route 339 south of Mason and Yerington as crews resurface the roadways.Â
The lane closures will be in place from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays along sections of the highway between Rebbecka Drive and the State Route 208 intersection south of Mason.
NDOT will have pilot cars that will alternate traffic through the work zones
Drivers should expect travel delays of up to 30-minutes at a time in each direction.
NDOT says that side roads and driveways will be accessible during the closures, with brief interruptions as paving takes place. Â
They advise residents to anticipate an increase in construction-related heavy truck traffic along Second Street as materials are hauled back and forth in work zones.Â
Drivers should give themselves extra time, plan alternate routes, such as State Route 208, or avoid the area if possible.
NDOT says that oversized cars and trucks classified as those over 12-feet wide will not be allowed on the roadways in the construction zones until the work is completed.
They say the resurfacing will provide drivers with a smoother, restored surface to drive on.Â
In addition to resurfacing the roadway cattle guards are being replaced, and roadway drainage is improved.Â
NDOT reminds drivers to buckle up and to pay attention as normal speed limits will be decreased, traffic lanes may be shifted and workers might be in the roadways.
