DMV SCAM ALERT

The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles is warning residents to ignore and report scam texts that falsely claim to come from the agency.

A public service announcement shared on the DMV’s official Facebook page states, “Be on the lookout for another wave of scam texts and remember to IGNORE and REPORT! As a reminder, we will NEVER send out unsolicited texts or emails.”

An example of the fraudulent message includes a notice claiming to be a “Final Notice” from the DMV, stating that “enforcement penalties begin on July 18.”

The message falsely claims the recipient has an unpaid traffic ticket and lists consequences if payment is not made by July 17, 2025. It also directs users to a fake payment website.

The image shared in the DMV’s post highlights the warning: “THIS IS A SCAM. IGNORE AND REPORT!” and cautions residents not to click any links or follow any instructions in the message. The post adds, “Stay safe, Nevadans!”

Authorities urge anyone receiving such messages to report them and avoid sharing any personal information.
