Applications are now open for county coordinator positions with the Nevada Election Observation Network, which is seeking one coordinator in each of 14 Nevada counties to help lead election observation efforts during the upcoming election cycle.
Openings are available in Carson, Churchill, Douglas, Elko, Esmeralda, Eureka, Humboldt, Lander, Lincoln, Lyon, Nye, Pershing, Storey and White Pine counties.
County coordinators will recruit, train and support election observers while serving as a liaison between the Nevada Election Observation Network and local election officials. The role also includes observing multiple stages of the election process, including voting machine certification, poll worker training, early voting, vote-by-mail tabulation, Election Day activities and election results certification.
Selected coordinators will participate in both in-person regional training and online instruction covering Nevada's election observation process. They may also help lead trainings alongside regional coordinators.
The position includes recruiting observers, initiating paperwork and contracts, conducting every-other-week check-ins with regional coordinators and project leaders, assigning observers to polling places, and tracking each observer's training and readiness.
Coordinators also will identify the dates of election-related activities in their county, observe election processes during both the primary and general elections, and recruit and assign enough observers to cover 50% of polling places during the November 3 general election.
Additional responsibilities include obtaining county-specific election information from local officials and submitting monthly invoices requesting compensation and approved reimbursements.
The contract position will have varying levels of activity from the start date through the period following the November 3, 2026, general election. Some weekend work and travel will be required, particularly as Election Day approaches.
