As Mormon crickets begin appearing across parts of Nevada this spring and summer, state officials are asking residents to help track the insects by reporting sightings in their area.
According to the Nevada Department of Agriculture, in an online post, people who see Mormon crickets can report sightings at the Department’s entomology reporting page or by scanning the QR code on the photo above from the agency.
Officials said reports from the public help track and control outbreaks across Nevada as the insects spread through parts of the region during the warmer months.
The Department said every report makes a difference as crews monitor activity and respond to swarms in affected areas.
