Lyon County Sheriff's Office is getting the word out about a scam making the rounds in the community.
They say it's a change to an old scam.
A caller will tell the victim that they have warrants out for their arrest and will then send follow up messages with official looking documents, using the victim's name. You can see an example below:
In a post on Facebook, the sheriff's office says, "Please remember no law enforcement agency is going to call you and demand payment for a warrant, no matter how official the documents look in the follow-up messages. Hang up immediately when you receive similar phone calls; the callers are from outside of the Country and not attached to any legitimate law enforcement agency."
