The North Lyon Fire Protection District is investigating a deadly fire in Fernley.
Crews were called to home on Canal Drive just after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. When they arrived, they found a house fire, threatening nearby structures. North Lyon units with help from Central Lyon Fire Protection, Story County Fire and Pyramid Lake Fire worked together to extinguish the fire. Â
The fire damaged a neighboring home, causing minor damage to a garage, but crews were able to prevent it from spreading any further.
One person was found dead inside the home where the fire started, their name has not been released.
The cause is under investigation.
