The Northern Nevada Health System opened a new freestanding emergency department in the North Valleys of Reno on Monday, January 5.
This new development ER at North Valleys is an extension of Northern Nevada Medical Center, located at 7515 Sky Vista Parkway at exit 74 Lemmon Drive.
Officials say the emergency department will be the system's sixth department added in Northern Nevada.
“The freestanding emergency department model allows our hospital to bring needed healthcare services closer to where residents live,” said Erin Little, chief executive officer at Northern Nevada Medical Center. “The new freestanding emergency department supports timely access to care, when every minute matters in an emergency.”
Officials say this department will be open 24/7 and treat all ages, from pediatrics to seniors. The department will feature multiple treatment rooms, advanced diagnostic imaging, and lab services for ER and walk-in patients.
It will treat a variety of emergency medical needs, including abdominal pain, lacerations, flu, pneumonia, strep throat, asthma, allergic reactions, broken bones, including stabilizing heart attack and stroke patients.
The health system also has more locations near Northwest McCarran, Spanish Springs, and Damonte Ranch.
“To help ensure we provide the highest quality emergency care, our FEDs are staffed with board-certified emergency medicine physicians and ER-trained nurses and techs,” said Travis Anderson, MD, MBA, FACEP, medical director of emergency services at Northern Nevada Health System. “The FED model has been positively embraced in our community, and we anticipate a successful opening at our new location.”
