There will be a controlled release of all students at both schools.

We will provide you with updates as we received them.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The Reno Police Department says the schools are not involved in the incident but are on lockdowns as a safety precaution.

There is no immediate word on when the lockdowns will end.

Please avoid the area.

Starting this year, WCSD says it "will no longer use codes to implement emergency procedures. A Secured Campus occurs when an outside event, threat near the building or an on campus incident that requires security actions to take place.  Secured Campus is a preventative response which rapidly enhances the level of security within the building."
