A solo semi-truck crash has closed all eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 near Floriston, with traffic being turned around at Hirschdale and no estimated reopening time.
According to the California Highway Patrol Truckee in an online post, eastbound traffic is currently being turned around at Hirschdale because of the crash near Floriston.
Drivers are being asked to avoid the area, expect delays, and use caution around emergency personnel.
The crash was reported at about 10:45 a.m. Friday on eastbound I-80 just east of Floriston Way, according to the Caltrans QuickMap website. The semi-truck overturned and blocked both eastbound lanes.
Caltrans QuickMap information provided by the California Highway Patrol said the tractor remained connected to the trailer and was hanging over the side of a bridge. The driver of the semi-truck was ejected, and emergency crews responded to the scene.
A patient was expected to be transported to Renown according to the QuickMap information. Truckee police were also requested to assist with traffic control, while Caltrans prepared for a full response to the closure and cleanup.
The QuickMap updates said eastbound traffic was closed at Hirschdale. Crews had begun turning vehicles around in small groups in the traffic queue.
There was no estimated time for the roadway to reopen, and no detour was provided. CHP Truckee said it would provide additional updates as they become available.
