A pedestrian has died after being hit by a semi-truck on Wells Avenue on Friday afternoon.

It happened at the intersection of Wells Avenue and Claremont Street around 2:40 p.m., according to a spokesperson for the Reno Police Department.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by REMSA.

The driver of the semi stayed on scene and is cooperating with authorities.

Intoxication does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

Wells Avenue was closed for hours between Vassar Street and 3rd Street but has since reopened.

The Reno Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is handling the investigation.
