A person was hospitalized on Tuesday night after allegedly suffering injuries in a domestic battery incident in Sparks.

Police got a report of domestic battery just before 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday on Amber Leaf Court, according to a release from the Sparks Police Department.

The person who reported the incident told police they had gotten a text from the victim asking them to call 911 and saying they weren't safe.

Officers got information that guns may have been present inside the home and learned the suspect, identified as Troy Miller, was still inside.

Officers were able to speak with Miller and have him leave the home.

He was taken into custody without incident.

Officers then found the victim, who had suffered multiple injuries. They were taken to the hospital and treated.

Miller was booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility on the following charges.

  • Domestic Battery 1st Offense – victim is an older person, a misdemeanor

  • Own or possess a firearm by a prohibited person, a felony
