In advance of National Adoption Week, PetSmart stylists in Reno gave free grooming sessions to a selection of adoptable dogs and cats from the Nevada Humane Society.
The grooming took place on Thursday at the shelter’s location on Longley Lane, with stylists bathing and trimming the animals to prepare them for potential adopters.
“Grooming isn’t just about appearance; clean, comfortable pets are more confident, allowing their true personalities to shine through,” organizers said.
The pets will be available for adoption during an in-store event held Friday through Sunday at the PetSmart on South Virginia Street in Reno.
The event is part of a broader National Adoption Week effort organized by PetSmart Charities, with activities taking place across the country.
In 2024, nearly 6 million pets entered shelters in the United States, and efforts like this are meant to give more animals a better chance at finding a home.
The grooming session featured a variety of dogs and cats, with visible transformations captured in “before and after” moments.
The Nevada Humane Society said the event helped showcase adoptable pets of various breeds, ages, and temperaments, all of whom are now ready for adoption.
