Next week, the Regional Transportation Commission is starting construction on a project that will widen part of Sparks Boulevard.

RTC says Phase Two of the Sparks Boulevard project will add a lane to each side of the road from the I-80 westbound ramps to Baring Boulevard. It will also add sidewalks on parts of the road.

Starting Monday, drivers can expect lane and shoulder closures from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. going northbound and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the southbound lanes. 

The project is expected to be completed in mid-2027.
