A man was arrested Monday after police say he was seen drinking hot sauce, challenging people to a fight, and allegedly brandished a knife in a Sparks parking lot.
According to a Facebook post by the Sparks Police Department, 48-year-old Michael Smith was spotted shirtless in the Scheels parking lot, drinking from a bottle of Tabasco sauce and aggressively confronting strangers.
When a security guard asked Smith to leave, police said he allegedly responded with profanity and pulled out a knife while continuing to challenge the guard.
Officers arrived and found Smith still shirtless and carrying the knife in a sheath. No injuries were reported.
Smith was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia. The Tabasco bottle was thrown away.
Sparks Police concluded their post by stating, “Let this be a reminder: shirtless knife-fighting while hot-sauced-up is not a recognized sport in Sparks.”
