Reno police are asking for the public's help identifying a man accused of seriously injuring another person during an aggravated battery in downtown Reno.
The attack happened on May 28 at about 11:45 p.m. near the intersection of West Street and First Street.
Police said a man, described as a white man wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, blue jeans, and white tennis shoes, allegedly struck the victim from behind without warning, causing the victim to fall to the ground. After the victim was on the ground and no longer defending themselves, the suspect allegedly kicked the victim in the head before fleeing.
The victim suffered serious head injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Investigators believe two other people may have been associated with the suspect. One was wearing a black hat and a white shirt, and the other was wearing a black hat and a black pullover. Police said all three people were seen fleeing northbound from the scene immediately after the battery.
The incident happened in a busy area and was witnessed by numerous people. Detectives believe additional witnesses or surveillance footage could help identify those involved.
Anyone with information about the suspect or the people seen with him is asked to contact Secret Witness or Sgt. Silver with the Reno Police Department's Crime Suppression Unit at (775) 691 5036 or SilverJ@reno.gov. People should reference Case No. 26-10243 when providing information.
