The Reno Phil brought its biggest party of the summer back to Rancho San Rafael Regional Park.
This year, Pops on the River sent everyone back to the 80's with the classics.
The 31st annual summer party serves as the Reno Phil’s biggest fundraiser of the year.
Laurie Feree says she was most excited for, "the music, and to see all the people dressed up and all."
But first, it wouldn't quite be Pops without the elaborate table displays.
Dozens brought their A-game for the contest, representing everything from Reno history to franchise favorites.
“We are the ghostbusters,” says Victoria Crockett. “We've got our seven-foot Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. We've got Ghostbusters, I'm Gozer, we've got Tully, we've got every character with the Ghostbusters, all the slimers. We made it happen."
Crockett and the rest of the Ghostbusters table were awarded Most Memorable, but it was another group who took home Best in Show.
With everyone's favorites, including the Flintstones, Transformers, and Inspector Gadget, it was the Saturday Morning Cartoons that captured the judges' eyes the most.
Bryon Majusiak says the table serves as a tribute to his and his friends’ childhood.
"Most of us are millennials and '80s kids, so when the opportunity came up to do something that represented the '80s, Saturday morning cartoons really felt like a jam for us,” he says.
Majusiak says his sister did not join him as a Ninja Turtle, instead choosing She-Ra from He-Man.
Reno Phil closed off the night by performing classic songs from the 1980s, including “The Power of Love” and “Bette Davis Eyes.”
