10:30 P.M. UPDATE:
A number of power outages affecting thousands of people across Reno have been resolved late Thursday night.
According to NV Energy's outage map, as of 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, fewer than 100 customers are without power, down from more than 12,000 earlier in the evening.
The cause of the remaining outages is under investigation, and there is no estimated time for power to be restored.
A crash in the area of Kietzke and Plumb Lanes has been attributed to the outages, according to a spokesperson for the Reno Fire Department.
ORIGINAL STORY (8:25 P.M.):
More than 12,000 people are without power across Reno on Thursday night.
The outages are largely scattered across south Reno up to just south of Midtown, while another outage near downtown is affecting nearly 1,600 people, according to NV Energy's outage map.
Our crew on the scene reports that the power went out at Greater Nevada Field.
The Atlantis Casino and other businesses have been affected as well.
There are dozens of outages being reported across Reno. No cause for any of the outages has yet been identified, and none show any estimated time for power to be restored.
